Following the popularity of last year’s performance, we again present some of the most beloved music of the holiday season including excerpts from The Nutcracker and Swan Lake as well as favorite festive fun.

Family: Young and Beautiful

Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 7:00 PM in Patuxent Presbyterian Church, California, MD (Tickets)

Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 4:00 PM in College of Southern MD, Prince Frederick, MD (Tickets)

The stars of this show will be the winners of our 13th annual concerto competition for young musicians.  Although we cannot predict what they will play, we can be sure they will be supremely talented. The program will also include Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol, two dances from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, and the little-known but beautiful 1950 Suite by Mieczysław Weinberg.

Auditions will be held in early December and winners will be announced in late December.

Finale: Masterworks

Saturday, May 20, 2017 7:00 PM Patuxent Presbyterian Church, California, MD (Tickets)

Sunday, May 21, 2017 4:00 PM College of Southern MD, Prince Frederick, MD (Tickets)

To close the season, the full force of the orchestra will be displayed in Wagner’s overture to Die Meistersingers. Then, in his COSMIC debut, accomplished pianist Baron Fenwick will perform Beethoven’s 5th piano concerto “The Emperor.” Rounding out the concert will be the challenging symphony no. 6 by Tchaikovsky: “Pathétique.” Translating the title as “Passionate” gives an accurate description of this, Tchaikovsky’s final complete major work.
