About the Flute Choir
In 2007, COSMIC Flute Choir debuted at Annmarie Garden’s ArtsFest. We are a group of anywhere from 10-15 flutists from all walks of life; everything from engineers to teachers to students and stay-at-home moms. COSMIC Flute Choir meets on Tuesday evenings from 5-6PM at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center and is open to adult flutists as well as accomplished high school students. For more information on how you can join, contact us.
A range of instruments is played, from the piccolo (half the size of a concert flute) and the concert C-flute, to alto flute (one-and-a-half times the size of a concert flute), bass flute (twice the size of a concert flute), and even contrabass flute (four times the size of a concert flute!) The Flute Choir plays a prelude to each of the COSMIC Symphony concerts, as well as various events in the community: ArtFest, Fairy Festival, and Garden in Lights at Annmarie Garden; Solomons Christmas Walk (appearing at the Marine Museum and Solomons United Methodist Church), and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church as part of the Sanford Concert Series.
