About Flute Choir
In 2007, COSMIC Flute Choir debuted at Annmarie Garden’s ArtsFest. We are a group of anywhere from 10-15 flutists from all walks of life; everything from engineers to teachers to students and stay-at-home moms. COSMIC Flute Choir meets on Tuesday evenings from 5:00-6:00 PM at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center and is open to adult flutists as well as accomplished high school students. For more information on how you can join, contact us.
A range of instruments is played, from the piccolo (half the size of a concert flute) and the concert C-flute, to alto flute (one-and-a-half times the size of a concert flute), bass flute (twice the size of a concert flute), and even contrabass flute (four times the size of a concert flute!) The Flute Choir plays a prelude to each of the COSMIC Symphony concerts, as well as various events in the community: ArtFest, Fairy Festival, and Garden in Lights at Annmarie Garden; Solomons Christmas Walk (appearing at the Marine Museum and Solomons United Methodist Church), and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church as part of the Sanford Concert Series.
